The idea that Jewish and Christian theologians interpret Noah's faith differently is a new idea for me. Seeing Noah as "reluctant" just because he was the last one in seems a stretch after all he had done and gone through just to get the ark built to begin with.

Another item they didn't mention and a lot of folks don't know is that Noah brought 7 of every clean animal into the ark in order to have food and sacrifices during the year they were locked in. It's also amazing to discover how big that ark really was. I won't tell you, I'll let you ferret that out on the Internet.

So, I have nothing great to say about Noah, but it is a neat fact that no other story is more widely found through out every major culture and religion than the story of a world flood. Makes you wonder why scientists don’t base more theories on the idea of a world flood? I’m with dad on the reluctant faith thing, i thinks its crazy to weigh going in last more heavily then all the other work and persecution he went through to build it.

Hmm… it seems to me that Christians would doubt Noah more than Jewish folk. I wouldn't think the story holds as much weight to Christians as it does the Jews, therefore the Jews would believe it with more passion and less questioning. Although I could be off on that.

A forever long boat ride with tons of smelly animals. Sounds like the perfect job for Dad. Or maybe Dad would rather be drown? Hmm…

I think it is interesting that even the really good guys, heroes of the faith, have flaws that are listed in the Bible. Still shows us that even the good guys aren't perfect(in case we were wondering) and everyone needs redemption.

I'm with Elliott on this one, a scientific exploration of a worldwide flood theory would be quite interesting, probably informative, or probably too mind boggling. It might mess up the nice little packaged theory of evolution, or at least add some new puzzle to the equation that would show that our knowledge of the way we got here is all just theory. I guess I don't get how Jews and Christians would interpret the story of Noah differently, or why Noah's reluctance matters. Maybe all I've ever taken from the story is the end, with the dove and the dry ground and the rainbow and God's promise.

I find the Jewish interpretation to be bit off, I don't see how they would interpret reluctance. I find Noah building the ark, and doing as he was told shows his faith, devotion, and sacrifice made to honor God and his will. And if you ask me, i'd probably kick back a bit too much wine as well if I had to endure that whole ordeal myself. Perfect time for the appearance of wine to show up in the bible. It makes sense:)
